Hi Dylan :) Best wishes! I hope all is well! Maybe this year I'll decide to put my productions on Spotify... even if I realize that I'm far from making them sound the way I'd like!
But you know, in Italy they say: those who are satisfied enjoy it! 😀 Maybe the translation is not very correct :(
I am planning on starting a youtube channel of cover songs, to help get my skills where they need to be for making originals. I don't know if this is a new years resolution per se, but I'm pretty adament about this goal this year lol.
@Heather Prescott: agreed. SPI is a bit rubbish. Real-world skills are much more important. @Anthony Zambonini: it's a great time to get all your musical ducks in a row. I'm doing a similar thing at the moment with songs that I didn't finish in 2024. @Vittorio Di Rocco: Hey friend! I have a lot of issues with Spotify and what they have done to the musical landscape, especially around oversaturation and artist remuneration. Never mind, there's nothing I can do about it. As long as we keep enjoying it, it's all good... just like your Italian saying! @Jason Stanley: great idea and worthy goal to have. I'd say that it counts as a resolution. I might even do that too... ha!
Thanks all! Quick question...I've been getting all these sound coins and looked at what they buy but have NO idea what those things really do for you. I haven't been able to find any real help on this site. Anybody know where I can get an orientation for the sound coin stuff?
Hi, Jeff, I don't know if there's an orientation on the site. But one thing I've done is buy all the sounds possible. This shows up in the games - instead of just the initial stock sounds, you now have a very wide variety of sounds and even genres that the games pull from. All of which made the games for me more difficult initially, but ultimately I felt that I have improved more, given I'm not using just the same old stuff over and over again. I've heard others say the same. Hope this helps.
@Jeff Luther if you're interested in badges, you can complete your virtual studio, or donate 1000 soundcoins for the valued donor badge. It also costs 10 soundcoins to put a song on the charts, which is fun to do. It costs 1 soundcoin to participate in beatrace challenges every hour, which there's a badge for that too. I think i've also seen sample packs for sale with soundcoins, like 808s or something. I think it also costs soundcoins to participate in the olympics challenge as well, and there's medals you get from those for your profile. This is all besides what steve said, the sample packs for the games are somewhere you can spend coins too. Right now I'm saving up for valued donor badge myself, I already completed my virtual studio. Stuff to do, it's fun.
I finally finished level 1 in Dr. Compressor! It's at least doing (at least I think it's doing) what I thought a compressor is mainly used for: cutting fat, brisk, peaks off of transients and making the drums more unified instead of anything being too punchy or slappy. What are ya'lls thoughts? Am I way off?
