Hi friends! I out a new song out today. The vibe is psychedelic desert house. Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy it! The Youtube video has visuals that I made in Touchdesigner.
yesterday I was super sleep deprived and managed to hit 68 points at like 2am, basically asleep, with eyes closed half the time. Today I'm well rested and somehow stuck at around 10 points hahaha. Surely that must mean that it's best to mix when tired right ? :P
Now I mixed myself into exhaustion, then played SpacePan and it definitely felt easier tired! :D I think I'll leave to bed now, even though I almost get past Lio's score.
Hey folks! I've been training my ear here everyday and it's been so hard to get score on Dr. Compressor!!! Is there any tips to hear them!? I'm so aware it's important to train regularly I just wanted to know how people hear them!
The more you practice, the more you'll recognize which sound has more powerful - that is less compressed one. The other sound will have less powerful but normally louder. Another trick, putting your hand on the desk you can feel which one stronger
Listen to the kick and snare. Less compressed will feel 'spiky' or 'sharp'. More compressed will feel soft or round. For me, it's the game that involves the most feeling instead of thought. Also, listen to the room around the mic. When it's more compressed you will tend to hear more of the room in some of the recordings.
My experience here on SoundGym has taught me a crucial lesson: Progress is never a clear path. Sometimes it can feel like a straight shot to the top, and other times it can feel like utter failure. Regardless, persistence is the key to progress and growth. I've lost count how many times I scored 0 points on these games even though I'm Diamond Ears. Honestly, I couldn't care less. Sometimes it's annoying yeah but it doesn't bother me like it used to. Now, all I'm focused on just training my ears daily and my mixing and mastering skills have grown sharper because of it. There were times I questioned whether or not I was truly progressing, but I stayed persistent and just kept trying for better or worse. The next time you feel stuck, just remember that even getting to the point of being stuck means you've been moving forward.
No problem everyone, and it's funny that you brought up leveling up Way because it's rare for me to level up. I think it's been about a month ago since the last time heh
