Here is my mix of "Bruks - Kak Tvoi Dela, Vova". As an experiment I wanted to mix mostly with bus compression, to test the UAD SSL Bus compressor. Besides that some basic EQ's and verbs. I guess for the genre it could have some more agressive treatment but time was limited 😅
Hi Anne, nice to see you here! nice mix, funny that you are also trying the ssl-bus compressor, iIwonder if Holger has something to do with that :-) I like your mix. Vocal could me a little less for me but that's taste. Hope you will comment on my version to!
Good job. The first thing to hit me is that you might want to be aware of the freq of the verb on the snare showing up in the intro. I'm guessing it's adding a bit of unwanted mud going into the song. I'd like to see your mix through an eq but I can't download it from Soundcloud. You should post with Google Drive in the future. Nice job.
@Cleo Simons Thanks for your comment. You are rightm, the choice of the bus compressor is inspired by Holger. @Leigh #111 I hear what you are saying about the verb. I made the song downloadable on soundcloud. I'm wondering about what you wanted to check :)
Hey @Anne Schutte, Ah some top down mixing. I even throw a tape plugin after the compressor. Some food for thought, you can put compression and eq on each bus. For example, I bussed all the gang vocals together and just used one channel strip on them.
Oh sometimes I want to drop a mix into the DAW and look at it through the eq spectrum and Tonal Balance just to see what you're doing to the overall picture. In my mixes, I high pass most instruments a bit too much for a specific learning reason and it makes for a slightly more mid range sounding mix. Surprised I don't get called out for it as much as I should. And I find (and I could be wrong) that Soundcloud has a little more of a fizzy top end than Google Drive.
Hi Anne. Good Mix. I agree that lowering the vocals would make it blend better. The SSL bus compressor approach is a good one. Most of the times (also this week) it is my go to approach to glue the mix. Nice one!
1 props
