There are unseen parameters in many, if not all, SoundGym games (examples: Compressionist - threshold; Peak Master and other EQ games - Q setting.) I'm saying you could spend Soundcoins to display them. This would take programming work from SoundGym - don't know if they'd want to. If you're not familiar with SoundCoins (the play money you earn after a workout, when you click that green-colored "Collect Soundcoins" button in the upper left.) See the Soundcoins menu for more info (the menu with the concentric circles to the right of the Learn menu.)
I'd love to see those parameters, maybe implemented as part of the compare answers (keyboard "C" ) option. Kinda drives me crazy in Dr. Compressor (L35) & Distorted Reality (L26) getting to stage 11 or 12 with all 3 lives left only to lose then all with samples that, to me at least, sound virtually identical. I have no idea what the difference between the samples are after getting it wrong , other than I picked he one that was not "more compressed" or "more distorted" 😤 I' would pay "sound coins " if it were ever to be implemented in that way, but really , I do not think it should it cost coin to know this. Should be just part of compare answers (keyboard "C" ) option. My rant of the day, I be quiet now.
Nah, keep broadcasting your thoughts @Romano G :)) I agree with @John Miller 's idea, and also with not sacrificing SoundCoins - but would do if must. I was very interested in the Q settings but I seem to have "cracked" it by analysing audio :) I would be happy to pay SoundCoins if we would have the option to switch Sounds in the same category during games!
The parameters for dr. Compressor are always the same. As written in the game description the attack is very fast (close to 0) and the release time is also very short. Only the threshold is getting a bit higher with each level/stage. Distorted reality also presents a very simple saturation process, while the drive parameter is a bit higher with each stage/level. Drive and threshold values are not meaningful by themself becuase their effect also content dependent. The effect of lower threshold or higher drive is the same as if we keep these parameters at the same value and raise the audio content level. So these exact values will not add anything to your understanding of what you hear.
Thanks @Noam Gingold for your explanation. Although shouldn't we hear a more saturated sound at the end of the game in DR as the Drive increasing? Instead of hearing more Saturation the stages 11/12 somewhat different and we don't seem to understand what's happening there. Hence I think we wanted to see the parameters to have a better understanding :)
I think he means the opposite. It gets more and more subtle as you progress. Both in distortion and compression. I like the gain variation, it keeps you on your toes.
they are very cunning i think😐,sometimes in both Dr compressor and distorted reality ,the will make the right answer more quiet,i dont think distorted sound can be more quiet than original sound
when i am playing Dr compressor,i just listen which cymbals are louder which kick has less low end, and which snare lasts longer time. as for Distored reality ,everything depends on my luck😞
