Hi all,

In the Delay Control game, I have a really hard time telling the superfast delay times apart. (everything under 50ms or so). I do hear a clear difference between the clean and processed sound but for me there's no clear characteristic that tells me if it's a 4ms or 12ms delay, for instance. Any suggestions?

I'm just going to be frank here, that game is pretty useless. Not once have I ever needed to be able to identify the specific time for a delay. If you truly are dead set on getting better at that game for your own reasons, then I would say that 12ms would sound more like slap back delay while 4ms might come off as more short reverb

Hi Frans,

0-10ms close, sense of immediacy, shades of hollowness
10ms-20ms small space, image in front of the speakers, sense of plasticity
20ms-30ms medium space, midfield, image between the speakers
40ms-60ms bigger space, depth field, image behind the speakers, sense of power

1) You may find this old discussion helpful on this topic: https://www.soundgym.co/space/talk?id=NASZ2448MAR&t=871P3QNKG2N

2) Using practice mode to warm up

3) If not already, using the 'C' keyboard command to compare answers can be helpful

For those that don't about this, you can press the ā€œCā€ key immediately after selecting your answers (right or wrong) so you can hear and compare the difference between them.

The C key works for EQ Knight, Dr. Compressor, DB King, Filter Expert, Delay Control, Distorted Reality &Reverb Wizard , very helpful indeed

You have about ~2 seconds to press (not hold) the C key after answering (if its already advanced to next question, you missed it). You can also use the arrow keys to select between the samples, press C again to continue with game.

Enjoy!
