Distorted Reality Tips:
- Listen for "fullness". The track that sounds a bit bigger is most likely the distorted track.
- Listen for longer tails, especially in Drums. Drums will also seem louder when distorted.
- High frequencies sometimes seem louder when distorted.
- Low frequencies will sometimes sound "dirty" when distorted.
- The easiest sources that I can hear the difference on are Drums, Piano, and Songs.
- The hardest sources for me are Percussion, Deep House, Industrial Techno.
- It's a good idea to try all sources multiple times to see how distortion effects different frequencies. For instance, in Percussion, the more distorted sound sometimes seems more quiet, but not always.
These are the strategies that work well for me. What do you think is the most challenging aspect of this game? What do you listen for? Please share in the comments below.

Thanks for the tips . I fully agree with them :)
To me , I would add that - on drums particularly - transients are slightly altered, and It makes things going a little in the back .... Hope it helps :)

Thanks! Yes I think when you select drums, you can often play it like Dr Compressor.
I must say, that's why I actually like Percussion for Distorted Reality.

i always feel really weird when i play this game. Sometimes the more distorted sounds even better to me and i feel fooled.. sometimes there is more base, or more agressive highs, or overall smoother sound. but it doesnt work always. for example: i listen to the High ends. it sounds louder. but its not the more distorted one, because the base is cleaner..

Definitely on the same page with this excercise - even having been involved in pro music for years this game still gets me. Sometimes the more distorted option is quite clearly more distorted and that's easy enough. But when it's more subtle I can barely tell a difference.

That being said I've had better scores when listening back at higher volumes. Listening on low volumes is a great way to hear things in other situations like hearing compression attack but maybe distorion is a bit easier to hear at louder volumes?

Would be keen to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience.
